Note that the first section below is for the head gasket (lower section). There is also the upper half section that fits over the cylinder head. I assume that you have gotten one or the other off and need help putting things back?
The bolts can be used once after the R&R of the head but that's it...if you have to take it apart again, you'll need to use new bolts (they stretch after awhile). After lubricating them, torque then in 3 stages starting from center and working outward- first, all at 14.75 ft lbs, second, at 44.25 ft lbs, then finally, 130 degrees more. Volvo has a special protractor that is used, but you can make your own with a piece of cardboard with center cut out for the socket. I hope this helps. Btw, if you haven't taken the bolts out yet, you're suppose to loosen them in sequence too...this time starting from the outside working in.
Now, if you're talking about the upper 1/2 portion of the cylinder head, it should have had a cam holding tool (either the official tool or one you made holding things together, correctly)....you use a roll-on anaerobic liquid gasket (Volvo part #1161059-9) on the upper half of the cylinder head and use a pull down tool to make sure the fit is tight, then you tighten the bolts from the inside to the outside with 12.5 ft. lbs on each. I would tighten them a bit at a time, making sure of the correct torque for each bolt.
If I missed your question, then I'm sorry- please post back with a more specific question.
