They are two different sensors. The accelerometer is pictured in the first post and the altitude sensor is pictured in the second post.

If I'm not mistaken, the accelerameter detects up and down motion of the car so that the ECU can figure out if engine vibration is from a problem in the engine or if its from the car driving over rough roads. I had a loose connection last March for the sensor and it threw a code.
