S70 1998 can't open door from inside (front passenger)

Front passenger door latch does not open door from inside. Passenger must open window and open with outside handle.
Do I need to remove door upholstery?

Yeah, you'll have to take the door panel apart and see what went amiss in there!

Unfortunately, the door panel does need to come off. At least you can get the door open from the outside because if you couldn't, you would be in a pretty hard place right now. More then likely, the linkage just popped off the latch in the door.

Once you get the panel off inspect where the latch release cable connects/clicks into the inside door handle. There's a small plastic holder that's probably broken and allowing the cable to get out of position.

Thank you all for your assistance regarding fixing the inside door handle. I was able to get into the door's interior without breaking any clips and fix the handle. You made it so easy for me.
