1998 S70 windshield washer cap missing

Could this cause the check engine light to comeon. Also I was told that it leaks as well when filled. Should this reservoir be replaced? If so, how would you do it? Any pictures or diagrams would be appreciated.

No. It will leak at the filler neck if it is filled past that; that's pretty normal. Aluminum foil & a rubber band will work as a cover for now; you can find one off a junk car or something to put on there.

I'll get you a diagram later on today when I have my computer with me.

Thank you for your response. I noticed that their is a hose disconnected at the windshield washer reservoir that is leaking the fluid into the car, should this be connected to something else on the reservoir?

I had this same problem too. There are a couple check valves throughout the system there, and for me it was just a matter of plugging a loose hose back into one of the valve. In my case it was because I was getting no fluid to the rear wiper. When I hit the button I'd simply get a waterfall of fluid pouring from the pump/reservoir area.

And if you want a new reservoir cap you can get them at eeuroparts.com or a dealer... they're cheap.

If you do need to replace the tank, here is the diagram for you:

Several screws have to be got to from under the car, and then it will lift right out.
