850 leaking transmission fluid vaccum leak?

Postby kdstomny6 » Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:03 pm

I have a 95 850 glt that started leaking transmission fluid. There is also what sounds to be a vaccum leak at the front of the transmission behind the cover where the dipstick goes in. I lose more fluid when driving versus parked when idleing.I cant find where the the leak is coming from. Does anyone know where this leak may be coming from and could it be related to the sound I am hearing.

Elaborate some more and if you can post pictures of the leak please so we can "Guess more intelligently". It could be as simple as a bad O ring on the ATF dipstick but I need a better description to say anything for (kinda) sure.

Any shifting problems? What is the fluid level right now? go under the car and look for the leaks source. These guys are good but not clairvoyants ;-)

I can see the transmission fluid run down the seam between the engine and transmission but cant find where it is originating from. There is a small area where i can see the flywheel, maybe it is coming from there? Transmission works properly until it gets low on fluid. I lost about a half quart after driving 6 mi. There is also a noise that is coming from the fluid reservoir area kind of a popping sound. Sorry for not being more specific on my original post.

At your point I would use some engine degreaser to get rid of the slag so as to pinpoint the source.
