    Replacement positive battery terminal/cable

    Postby whoa » 03 Feb 2011, 18:30

    Hi,

The connection between the + battery terminal and the wire itself (to the starter) got weak---leading to heat, poor cranking, etc. I crimped it with some vice grips and it's working okay for now, but I want to replace it.

The original cable has a screw/post sticking out of it, onto which are bolted two additional, smaller cables. Have any of you replaced this thing, and if so what did you use? To me it looks like a 3-foot generic cable would be fine so long as there is provision for attaching the smaller cables to the terminal. I wouldn't be able to route it through the wiring harness without a lot of work, so I think I'd just run it independently. Any advice about sources, gauge, routing, etc., would be appreciated!

Generally you could put in cables and work it out but why not look for a used one depending on your budget and your know how?
