Can anyone tell me a sure fire way to make the black exterior trim on my 95 Volvo black again?

Best stuff I have found is http://www.showroomnewproducts.com/

Note that the original color for the 850 was more grey than black - and the above company makes a Showroom New Grey designed to match the Volvo OEM color.

I have tried shoe polish, which lasts for about three weeks in the sun and rain before fading. I wouldn't recommend it.
I have had better luck with Tung oil, which makes the trim a rich deep black color that has lasted without fading for several months so far.

Here's what I did - viewtopic.php?f=29&t=38239 - I'm really happy with the results. Just do it on a nice warm day and work slowly on small sections.

I used Showroom New to change the side moldings from gray to black over the winter. I did two or three coats, and it's really nice stuff. I'll be doing my bumpers with it now that it's warm out.

Don't think so - mail order only.

The most permanent way is to paint them with grey/black bumper paint (found at any automotive store, Pep Boys, A/Zone NAPA, etc)
The tedious part is the masking, actual painting should not take you more than 15 minutes.
Done properly it lasts for years
2000 V70R Black, 121,000 miles (Wife's).
2006 XC70 White only 59,000 miles. New daily driver.
2000 V70R Silver, 36,200 miles!!! SOLD (I will regret this)!

IMO the heat gun is the 1st try, Forever Black is the 2nd, and bumper paint is the last resort.

Although I agree with heat gun I would need a 1000 foot extension cord to use that method.

Seriously? You can't find a spot that's less than 1000ft from a power socket?

Where are you, out in the bayous? Put pontoons on your Volvo to get it into your parking space?

Kidding - kind of. There's gotta be a DIY carwash nearby that has electric sockets.

I don't think you quite understand, it looks just like it's new from the factory, it does not "look" painted,
(if applied properly)

Hence the name "bumper and plastic trim paint"
