Hello everyone! Hope someone can help me. My check engine light came on. The ride is very rough and the car barely accelerates. I took it to Autozone and got the following codes: P1600 (Batt malfuction; open or short circuit condition) and P0221 (Throtle Pedal Position Sensor; poor electrical connection, faulty TPP sensor, and/or faulty throttle valve control module).
The first code was under Lexus and the second under Volkswagen. I've searched hundreds of pages to no avail. Autozone had the Throttle Position Sensor (Duralast TPS423) for $77.99 plus taxes. I did not buy it until I learn more about this. I am also a rookie, but I need to learn and do it myself as I can not currently afford an autoshop. I have uploaded two pictures of my engine hoping someone can point to me where in the world the TPS is located and also to see if there are Volvo specific codes instead of the VW and Lexus I got (or if they are all the same). Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!!!
Thanks for the link!!! Excuse my ignorance as I am learning... I've been reading and it seems the throttle position sensor is part of the ETM unit and can not be replaced separately? The reason I asked is because Autozone was ready to sell me the TPS? It seems my problem lies on the ETM unit and/or the MAF unit. My S70 as 119K miles, so it might be a good thing to go ahead and replace both as this is my daily commute car (40 miles/day) and I need it to last me at least 200K. Thanks again. Any details you can provide will be great!
BEJinFbk, just want to say thank you! I did order the ETM from Xemodex. The car is running great! I put this together for anyone that might need some help as well as I had a difficult time figuring out how to get the cable out. Thanks again!!!
