inner tie rod replacement

Postby pjgdino » 19 Oct 2010, 08:32

I have a 1987 244 DL, My power steering fluid is leaking from the steering rack. I believe it its time to change out the tie rods and tie rod ends. I have the ZF steering rack. I have never done this job before. Does any one know where I can get instructions on how to change these out? My bentley service manual does not cover this. Also if anyone has done this, any advice is more than welcome.
Thanks

But be advised, new tie rods and tie rod ends will not cure a steering rack leak. Try to use a stop leak first. Make sure that your banjo fittings are tight. If it still leaks, and your tie rods are shot, I recommend getting a rebuilt steering rack, which which replace all of the above in one fell swoop.
