2000 S80 T6 DCTS codes, special question "shift solenoi

Postby daveloeffler » Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:49 pm

Hi all,
Previously I asked about the transmission. I got a reply to change out my fluid for synthetic. I am going to do that, just waiting on new filter. Here is another question, I purchased an OBD II reader and pulled these codes out.
P0237-Turbo boost sensor A circuit low
P0236- Turbo sensor A circuit range/performance
These were the first two to show up.
After letting the car warm up, as it tends to shift better when so. I took it out for a test drive.
Just as I was finishing the drive I was going up a slight incline at about 27 mph. The tranny jerked and two new codes also came up.
P1618-Fault in lead between AW50-52 and Mototronic 4.3 (MIL requested)
This one I think is the computer saying turn on the ! light.
Here is the real cause of the previous code and this is where my question get a bit more specfic, as if it is not already....
The code came in this
P0756- Shift solenoid B performance or stuck off.

Does anyone know if this solenoid is and internal part of the transmission? If it is where may I find documentation proving this? I currently have a third party warranty company and their claim is that it is not covered. I still plan on doing the flush with synthetic as I have already purchased the fluid and filter. What should I do about the solenoid.

I know this is a very confusing issue, can anyone give me some guidence. Thanks so much.
Dave

Dave,

After much shuffling to and fro through VADIS working out which gearbox may be fitted to your car I have found that code P0756 relates to Volvo code TCM-000C which is solenoid 2 hydraulic fault.

However, no matter which gearbox I have looked at it would appear that all the solenoids are in a control system box which is bolted to the outside of the gearbox.

This is probably what you did not wish to learn but if you can confirm the type of engine and gearbox I shall look further.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you have a GM 4T65EV-GT transmission.

That's what I worked it out to be. What threw me was the mention of the AW50-52 until I realised it was only the TCM asking for the MIL to be turned on.

hiya,

i have had exactly the same codes from my auto x ray reader.

i eventually found it a very simple, 20 minute 50p repair.

if you are still having the same problem, get back to me and i will tell you what it is most likely to be.

regards,

les

back to the drawing board

well, well, well. would you believe this.
found an open circuit (bad earth wires connecting together) behind the washer bottle and ecu box to plug at gearbox end (letter k) black wire.
fixed it and yes...i dont believe it !! still wont shift out of 3rd gear and goes into limp home mode.
so back to the drawing board for me...
will get around to changing the box oil, but uncertain if the oil ive bought dextron 3 is the correct fluid?
anyone tell me?
it says in my new handbook not to use anything other than volvo fluid, but do they just say this to get even more coin from our pockets?
my gearbox is an geartronic gt. in my 1999 s80 t6
