Volvo 850 (and Cross Country 1996-1997)

The 850 broke new ground by being Volvo’s first U.S. front-drive model, as well as the first Volvo to
feature a 5-cylinder engine.

Volvo S70 and V70 (and Cross Country 1998+)

The Volvo 70 series descended from the very popular, very safe, “near-luxury” Volvo 850. The V70 began life in
1998 model year as a freshened 850.

The Volvo S80 was introduced in 1999 to replace the 960. The luxury sedan is Volvo’s flagship automobile.

The Volvo 200 series had a remarkable 20 year lifespan, while the 700 series began life in 1982 and gave way to the
900 series in 1990. The 900 series became the S90 and V90 in 1998, and they were retired in 2000.
