| My friend has a strange problem with her 850 wagon rear brakes. Over time the brake pedal becomes spongy, as if air has gotten into the system. Bleeding the left rear brake restores the pedal feel for a few months but then the sponginess gradually returns. The brake fluid levels are normal and haven't been permitted to drop too low. The front pads and rotors were replaced last year but this problem preceded those repairs. No one has opened the rear brake hydraulics except to bleed them. There are no visible leaks from the lines/hoses. Could there be some freak defect with the rear brake caliper, say working air past the piston seal when the brakes aren't applied? Could there be some fault in the antilock hydraulics? HELP! Thanks for any help you can provide, Mark |
