I have a Volvo 740 Turbo Automatic, 1992. The problem is when the car gets hot the overdrive kicks in. i.e. the orange arrow light comes on the dash and it wont get past 3rd gear. I know zero about cars and my mechanic says it could be a transmission and if I want to check it I need to be prepared to spend 2K plus to fix it.

Any ideas??? hate to get landed with a bill if this is not the case....
