Derek, I have a 96 turbo that did the same thing. You cna buy an emissions cleaner fluid at the auto parts store like napa or discount auto parts store for about 4 bucks. I bought two and poured them both in with a full tank of gas, light went out in about ten minutes of driving. A friend of mine is a import mechanic and I was told that many times the change in seasons cold to hot or vice versa causes your car to build added condensation into your fuel lines excetra. My friend HIGHLY RECOMMENDS that I change my fuel (inline)filter by what your owners manual recommends and like me I live in a very humid part of the country during summer months, so keep your fuel as clean as possible. Also, check your timing belt replacement interval (VERY IMPORTANT) because you what happens when your belt breaks. I'm due for that replacement and I am going to knock out the water pump while I'm down there. The dealer will bend you over with prices so do your homework. As for the diagnosis, I don't know of any other then that. If the emissions fluid doesn't work I would definitely get it looked at by a certified pro. I hope this helps.

Jim
