| I have a V70 (98) My check engine light kept comming back on after being reset (40. a go). After reading of similar problems from other volvo owners I cleaned out the throttle intake (but only removed the large trunking between throttle body & filter box) using a small amount of unleaded petrol in a jar & small paintbrush you can open the thottle using the linkage and are the able to give it a good clean out (be prepared for a lot of muck). There are also two small pilot holes (positioned at about 5 o'clock)you need to unblock these as they are part of the EVAP system (mine were blocked solid)I then wiped dry with a lint free cloth getting as far inside the throttle body as possible. I reset the engine check light by dis-connecting the battery negative lead before starting the job. Its been 2 weeks since and the engine check light has not come on since |
