| I have just bought a 1994 Volvo Turbo Wagon to replace my 1985 760 Turbo Wagon that was starting to rust which I sold for $1400. Buying Volvo's are like buying stock! It is for long term. Sure, there will be problems, up and down days. Overall on long term, you can not beat it for value. My 760 which I bought used in 1998 for $11,000 cost me an additional $11,900 in repairs and routine maintanance over the next 14 years. But if you add it all up ($11,000 + $11,900 - $1,400) = $21,500 over a period of 14 years ($21,500/14) = $1550 per year is excellant value. The rule of thumb is $2500 per year per car. But if you are the types that gets nervous with problems (including "Check Engine Lights") or you plan to replace it in less than 5 years, than you should buy a used Camry! I had a Camry too! It was the best car in terms of reliability, absolutely no worries. But I still liked the Volvo! Go figure! Does this help decide? |
