Have the ball joint of each front wheel checked. Had I been on the expressway, I would have had an extremely bad or fatal accident. The ball joint on the left front gave way and the car caved in on that side (there was ball joint debris on the ground). The dealer who services my vehicle told me that my left axle broke, causing the ball joint to come loose. I did not believe that. If the axle broke, it was because the ball joint came loose. I had been complaining about noise in the front of my vehicle for some time and when I backed out of extremely tight spots where I had to turn my wheel to the extreme left or right, I was getting noise also. NEW BALL JOINTS HAD BEEN INSTALLED ON THE FRONT PROBABLY TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS MISHAP. I own a 1998 S70. Do not explain what I have told you, simply ask to have your ball joints examined. I am not trying to frighten you -- it's better to be safe than sorry.
