My V70 does this regularly. I used contact spray but it did not last very long. I then dismanteled the switch on the drivers side and cleaned the contacts. This worked a bit longer. Now whenever I have this problem I wiggle the switches till it works again. This can take up to 5 minutes of wiggling. The problem seems to be that the contacts oxidise when not in use and need a bit of work to clean them up.
