My 1995 Volvo 850 GLT makes an intermittent whirring noise from near the A/C unit. The noise is there even when the engine,lights,radio and A/C are off and and the key is turned half way. The dealer said it was due to a dented pulley (during a collision) in the A/C unit. The unit was replaced. The noise came back after a few days. One mechanic said it was a faulty ground wire connection. He tightened a connection near the A/C unit, the noise seemed to go away for a while, now it is back. Volvogm
