starting about 1 year ago, my 1993 850GLT began cutting out when I slowed to turn or came to a stop. But only sporadically. I shut off everything, waited 30 seconds, started engine and took off like nothing happened. About 6 months later I graduated. The 850 now cut off while cruising along at 50 - 70 mph. Suddenly, no warning. I could just feel it being dead. Then panel lights came on. I coasted off to side of road, waited usual 30 seconds and started up like it never happened. This happens more frequently in summer months but is ongoing all year round. It actually stopped for several months after I had new catalytic converter installed. Thought that was it! Wrong!!! Back in full force this summer is THE CUT OUT. Sudden silence. Nobody at Volvo dealer in NJ knows what to do -"we can't replicate it". Volvo North America sent someone over - no luck there either. They have no idea. Also had CNP sensor replace earlier - same results. Otherwise car is great. Just passed 150,000! But this car is potentially dangerous. Kind of similar to my sunroof which, since forever, will refuse to close or open - have to shut car off and leave off for 20 + minutes before it will work again. But this happens like never compared to main problem. And never together. So what it this? After 100,000 miles the engine just quits, goes on strike??? WHAT'S THE CURE?
