I just bought a 1996 850. A month after purchase from a private owner, the car would not pass NJ emissions testing. The hydrocarbon and CO levels are too high. There is a noticeable smell when driving it. Have now spent alot of money at both Volvo dea;er and a local service garage to repair the following: 2 O2 sensors, full tuneup incl wires, air pump and valve. My current repair costs are well above 1000 and the car emissions are still too high and will not pass inspection. Theservice garage and the volvo dealer are communicationg and now feel that one of the new O2 senors may be malfunctioning so they will replace them. The engine light was not working before. It was replaced and now that the car still does not test correctly and you still smell it, the engine light does not come on. The car is burning rich but the garage computer says the computer says it is burning lean. Tuesday, 9/3 I get new sensors. Prior to that does anyone have any ideas. Thank you! |
