Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Im not kidding, i stress out because Im concerned it might overheat like the white one did, even though that was fan related, or like the more likely chance the 960 has in hot climates. But it worked good yesterday! Does anyone here have an elevated stress level about their Volvo failing in some wa...

Re: Need sunroof seal for 2000 S70

I just Googled that part number and got several hits claiming it to be for sale. It looks like it fits later vehicles, too. https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/products/Volvo/Sealing-strip/1188349/9175614.html I removed the seal on my sunroof to go through the repair process (documented by another u...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Re: i need opinions on your ownership experience

Honestly, I haven't had many chores with malfunctioning electronics. It was usually more helpful in diagnosing problems than being a problem. But general reliability is not what I was expected. My 2005 w/ 270k miles has only original fuel pump and about 15 original rear subframe bushings.

Re: i need opinions on your ownership experience

I really like the P2 Volvos, have three in the family fleet. No electrical issues other than a MAF sensor and crank/cam sensor here and there. They do need suspension components replaced around 150k miles and maybe CV shafts, but if you go with decent aftermarket they are reasonable and easy DIY wit...

Re: i need opinions on your ownership experience

I busted $35k in parts and maintenance on my XC70 since 2012. Third of that could be ignored or deferred if you're not up to keeping it perfect, but still it's a lot. Wife's 2016 XC60 T5 (last year of P3) we bought new was a disaster. SPAs are too flimsy and glamorous. No more new Volvos in my famil...

Re: i need opinions on your ownership experience

In 2023 a 2003 car is strictly for enthusiasts, who are willing to dump their time and money into a new toy. Not really so. In my country, cars which are '99 are being sold and bought all the time. People just cannot afford much newer than that. Not to mention they always go for LPG cars as well. S...

Re: i need opinions on your ownership experience

One item I should add, is in my experience the paint holds up very well on the P2s, no rust on my cars with two spending their life in Iowa with plenty of salt.

The black plastic trim does fade terribly on the earlier P2s, my 08 S60 has all painted trim which is better.
