Re: 2004 S60 Power Steering Leak
- The hose below looks new (there is a Blue Label on it). - Get a new reservoir from dealer for about $50-$60. - Search forum for Dexron vs Pentosin. - You probably have over 180K (what is your mileage)... - At this mileage when the PS reservoir is bad, may not be a bad idea to replace the coolant r...

Re: 2004 S60 Power Steering Leak
At this age (15y and 63K), there is a round hose behind the engine block. This hose can leak very slowly. Not a bad idea to replace that short hose, about $8 from Volvo dealer. So from the above conversation, I'm planning on replacing the PS reservoir - it looks like that's definitely the problem a...

Re: 2004 S60 Power Steering Leak
Mine was replaced with genuine Volvo parts by my dealer. So I agree Genuine Volvo only on the reservoir. June

If you don't mind a trip to Jersey, I'll help you change it. Half hour job if we really take our time. I'd even let you buy me a beer at the local brew pub
, but I'm not free 'til after Valentine's day.

Re: 2004 S60 Power Steering Leak
...so from the above conversation, I'm planning on replacing the PS reservoir - it looks like that's definitely the problem according the picture, right? Which round short hose are you talking about - would you happen to have a link to the part? Is this also easy to replace? How much do you think t...

Re: 2004 S60 Power Steering Leak
Sticky pocket...we've got a couple of good DIY guys in Queens if you search the forum. Use the PM button to see if they can lend a hand. It's a great simple job you can do in the street, you need a catch bottle to catch the power steering fluid that will run out, and paper towels to catch the drips....

Re: 2004 S60 Power Steering Leak
That is the PS high-pressure hose.
A bit of "sweating" is normal.
Just clean it and keep an eye on it.
That high-pressure hose is NOT easy to replace. But again, you don't need to worry about it for now.

Re: 2004 S60 Low creaking sound
The stops on the lower control arms can make that noise too. when full turn is reached on the outside wheel (one turned into wheel opening at front) there is apart on the lower control arm that acts as the travel limter. It should have plastic over a metal bar. The plastic can break away and the met...

Re: 2004 S60 Quick Struts and Sway Bar Links
I've been disappointed with longevity when using anything other than genuine Volvo sway bar links on my P80s. Haven't had to replace them on a P2 yet, but I'd go genuine if I had to replace them. Worst of the aftermarket for me were IPD "heavy duty" but that was years ago under prior owner...
