Re: 2004 S60 2.5TAWD spark plugs

^ good point. Added, that and more. I place the Spark Plug in a Spark Plug Socket, attach an Extension, no Ratchet . Then turn the spark plug with two fingers. Two fingers without a lever cannot produce enough torque to cross thread. Also one can feel if the threads are mating or fighting. When the...

Re: 2004 S60 2.5TAWD spark plugs

1. You can take a picture of the wires and coil packs on your phone to aid in putting them back correctly (right after you remove the engine cover), or just do one at a time. 2. On avoiding cross-threading the plugs when installing them, I agree with RickHaleParker on twisting the extension without ...

Re: 2004 S60 2.5TAWD spark plugs

Couple tricks: 1. Use either Volvo OEM or NGK Platinum or Iridium equivalent, search forum for info. You can also use Copper spark plugs, but get NGK and replace every 30K or so. For Platinum or Iridium, you can go to 80K or so. 2. Remove the cosmetic cover and its Torx bolts, store them away on you...

I've fished out the rubber bit once or twice when it's stuck on the plug end as I'm removing the socket fr...

Re: 2004 S60 2.5TAWD spark plugs

Thats a great question that should be in archives. Stand by

A six inch extension plus plug socket will just clear the turbo pipe on my T5 when in the plug

You might need an extension to swing the tool 360degrees

Re: 2004 S60 2.5TAWD spark plugs

OK, The Gearwrench tool mentioned above is 6" long (3" for the socket, and 3" for the extension that is built into the tool). You will need another 3" extension. If you are new to car repair, then buy the basic Craftsman metric set for $15-$20. Then buy a separate 3" extensi...

Re: 2004 S60 2.5TAWD spark plugs

Little bit of oil is fine. If you are going to run 15 year old coils, carry a spare. ( perfectly fine strategy) [/b] corrected text and Clarification A preventative maintenance strategy is to replace coil over plug coils at 10 years/100,000 miles. If you do this, you never have a coil failure. Down...
