Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
fixed my AC by jamming the connections with a home depot reciept. turns out it was loose connections causing intermittent operation of my MCC. Will eventually resolder all the connections for a permanent fix

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
My T5R is testing my patience. I just replaced the ABS system and deleted Tracs. Now I go for a drive, and SRS light goes on (first time ever) Also it is fogging like crazy, so probably needs a new heater core(was already replaced once). It just keeps on giving. Check your climate control while dri...

1998 V70 Alternator Bearing Rebuild Thread
Hi Everyone, My alternator has been noisy for a while now and the rebuild target has sat on a desk for about 4 months now. The goal is to rebuild the spare as i know the voltage regulator and diodes are good on my current one and on the spare. The problem is the whine and whirl that comes from the a...

Re: 1998 V70 Alternator Bearing Rebuild Thread
Got some time today to work on it. Removed the inner coil by hammering the pulley with the bolt on it. Stripped the threads a little on the pulley but it still workable. Update: Completed the disassembly, the dremel was the answer. Cut off the old bearings with ease and cut slots in the top screws to get it out. Little bit of surface damage to the alternator but nothing structual. Turns out this alternator was rebuilt once before. The front bearing was an NTN, back ...

Re: 1998 V70 Alternator Bearing Rebuild Thread
Made some time over the last 2 days to work on the alternator. New bearings came in and documented and reassembled it. Of note, the slip rings for 1999+ vehicles are swapped in polarity but not in form when compared to the 1996-1999 alternators. I ground off the placement ring and set the ring in th...

Re: Possible bad battery or connections?
Seems as though the drop is between the starter and the alternator. The b+ output on alternator gets really quite hot-- ive just nwo burned my thumb testing it. Could this still be battery pos cable from term to starter? or from starter to alternator? If so are there any write ups or ideas for how ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Changed out the voltage regulator from a worn out bosch to a transpo ib520. Did an oil change and transmission drain and fill. Have to tackle the exhaust next week. Full load readings went from 12 < on old reg to 12.5 V with all loads present. Had a .3 drop on battery + cable so that needs to be dea...
