Immobilizer Chip Extraction from Key - 1999 Volvo V70
Not sure where post this since I'm a newbie. I had issue with my 1999 V70 where I lost key. Nightmare began involving having car towed to dealer. 1st dealer had a serious attitude and wanted me to buy a new key from his parts department and wouldn't use a new key I had which wasn't programmed but I ...

Re: A bunch of questions about my new-to-me S70....
That wrinkle is a natural part of a Naug animal and the variations in shape reflect its individual character, not flaws.
Someone probably put a mismatched bulb I; one of the holders, which detects current differences, ergo the lamp.
You have to be a Californian to call that ding, “ rust”

Re: Will this work to bypass the chip keys?
I've seen quite a few cars with hide-a-key boxes somewhere on them at the shop. I guess that's an option for a nonchipped key. One guy had a key zip tied to fuel line, the key was so rusty I doubt it still worked. Another put it on his exhaust and everything was melted together. You could see the ou...

Re: Will this work to bypass the chip keys?
The metal cut keys with chips use the same chip that gets placed in your dog. It is literally the size of a grain of rice. The antenna gets pulsed with current to make magnetic pulses and the pulses are picked up by a winding of wire in the chip and power the chip to broadcast a radio signal. The pa...

Re: Will this work to bypass the chip keys?
If I am interpreting the 2000 S70 EWD Early edition correctly, these cars do not have start inhibitor. They have a start er inhibitor that works by opening the ground to the starter relay. If this is all there is to it, one could run a wire from pin #2 (Solid Black) of the starter relay to ground an...

Re: How to restore the drip moulding (and in praise of plastidip)
Well that’s very clever. I’ve heard of plastidip on wheels, so it must hold up fairly well.
Do you know if the wagon molding comes off the same way? You just pried up at the very back end? Are there clips that break?
Nice blue as well!

Re: How to restore the drip moulding (and in praise of plastidip)
Wagon molding is held on the same way. There is a cap piece on the end back there take it off first, then start popping the molding out of the brackets. In my experience some of the brackets it can be tough to get out the molding out of but if you work carefully you'll get it out cleanly.
