Maintenance Log: 205k-270k s70 rebuild before being totaled
I'm writing this to have a proper maintenance log of my 99 S70 - NA m56 transmission. I've made plenty of panic threads where I've learned a lot from the community, and a couple where I've shared what I've done. It's also an exercise in sharing my own experience in sunk-cost bias, and naive obsessiv...

Re: Maintenance Log - An expensive and naive s70 rebuild - life lessons earned and the quest to make it worth it.
TLDR - Naive young guy knows nothing about cars, buys an old volvo to fix it up, gets obsessed and spends way too much money doing it, learns alot but hopes to get enough years/miles out of it to make it all worth it. $$ - Depending on how you want to calculate it, the 'pay off' on this could be 3-4...

Re: Maintenance Log - An expensive and naive s70 rebuild - life lessons earned and the quest to make it worth it.
Agreed - an impressive amount of work! Did you already know how to weld? I went to a vocational high school where i did a 2 week intro to the welding program as a freshman. So took that experience and watched some youtube videos as a refresher. I had a friend who does professional autobody come ove...

Re: Maintenance Log - An expensive and naive s70 rebuild - life lessons earned and the quest to make it worth it.
Which of your work items were the most worthwhile? In other words, which gave you the most improvement in gas mileage, ride quality, reliability, etc, perhaps with respect to their cost? This could be helpful information for anyone wanting to do a similar overhaul, helping people focus on the best ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Brought my S70 to my local volvo indie for the first time since moving to a new city. Needed some help with the AC and wanted to have an actual professional do a complete inspection of the car. I had told him it had been my project car, and after he saw all the work i did he must've appreciated it b...

PXL_20211113_163605245.jpg PXL_20211113_163624033.jpg Finally got around to swapping out my coolant reservoir tank and the cap. Volvo tank and whatever cap FCP had, but kept the original cap just in case the non-volvo one gives me issues since the underside was a bit different. Tank had been leakin...

TLDR Instead of spending 20,000 to go to Autotech school. Young guy spends only 10k and gets a free luxury Euro car at end Haha yes on this i think its relevant that i've become the car guy that people go to for help and me and my friends now get together to work on our old trucks. Also in the last...

FCP Euro Lifetime Replacement Guarantee Update
Hey Everyone, I searched the forum to see if anyone had already posted this but didn't see anything around the time it was posted. I just had to lifetime guarantee some tie rods and the return came back as store credit, not a refund as before. I spoke to a rep and they let me know they updated their...
