A yellow label Volvo ETM was exactly the same as the original design. Most cars will use two in their lifetime, but the Xemodex one is half the price of the Volvo so I think most go that route I just reached 100k on my second ETM, the first one went 140k. One of mine stopped working as it was rusted or seized in the sheath. I found the crack, worked some PB blaster in it and pulled the ebrake a bunch of times till it freed itself. Might not be the issue, but figured I'd mention since you have cracks in the cable. It's definitely not a permanent fix b...

I would leave alone if they work fine. If you want piece of mind you could do the following checks on the coils: 1) Remove the rubber boots and check them carefully for any splits which can lead to shorting. 2) Look around the coil casing at the top of the 'stalk' part.
