Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I've removed it on an S60R once, but it was a pain. Took a lot of prying to get it out of the block. Obviously yours should come out easier, being that you just installed it.
I don't think I've installed one with the engine in situ.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

How about this : Using a hacksaw, cut a couple of small ( 2 - 4 mm ) notches in the leading edge of the pipe. Then carefully peen the edge over till those saw kerfs are closed up. This should give the end of the pipe a pretty good taper. I can of course check it with the o-ring. Sand, buff, grease a...

Nice pictures. Where is the o-ring? Sveedy, do you have a picture of the back of the coolant pump with the coolant pipe removed? From your description, I can't picture how it works.

Re: Coolant pipe o-ring & install

A good hardware (like my local ACE) will have SAE and Metric size O-rings in a wide selection of sizes. Trying to stretch the O-ring is not likely to work. Get a larger one. If you have a loose fit either the cross section size is not right or the ID/OD is not large enough for proper fit. I think th...

Re: P80 P2 Coolant pipe o-ring & install 976045

So I talked to one of my whiteblock expert friends, and he tells me that the o-ring should seal on the ID against the pipe, not the block. It's supposed to fit loosely in that groove, which is how it gets pinched. The only way to do this is to pull the water pump and hold it in place as you insert t...

Re: Limit to how many times tensioner can be recompressed

Just an uneducated guess, but I think you should be good with a few slow compressions. The amount of movement over time will definitely equal more than 3 full compressions.

Re: Limit to how many times tensioner can be recompressed

I would have no concerns at all with the 20k one as long as you are confident about how it has been compressed in its lifetime. On a pesky timing belt job I have certainly had to recompress 3-4 times before; I assume that as long as you go slowly the hydraulic mechanism won't know it's been compress...

Re: Limit to how many times tensioner can be recompressed

If there are no signs of leaking when you remove it from the car,if it's hard to compress it and if it doesn't leak while compressing or after it's been compressed...reuse it. You don't need to wait for hours to compress it...just take your time and do it slowly...around 30 min. I'm on 4th timing be...

Re: P80 P2 Coolant pipe o-ring & install 976045

I would not stress over a piece of o-ring being in there, if you don't happen to find it.
