Re: 96 R manual swap: the hard way?
You can disconnect the wiring harness at the ECU box. Remove the two engine side parts of the ECM/TCM connectors and undo the ground under the pass light. Then it's just remove the fan and FI relays, etc from the radiator shroud and pull it all with the engine/trans. https://turbochuckcom.ipage.com/...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Yesterday I spent most of the time between 9am and 4pm working on my v70. i figured out a method to flush out the power steering fluid and refill with ATF w/o running the ps pump dry. So yeah ps fluid is changed. Right after that, I attempted reinstall of front bumper cover (continuing from where I...

A couple of Volvo videos I think folks will enjoy
I just finished this one. Super nice looking 740 when they get done with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MISElbaG3Y This one is an 850R, but I haven't watched it yet. I have seen a number of AmmoNYC videos, which are enjoyable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqVl5AI5ESg I sure am looking forwa...

New user from Sweden.
Hello everyone, my name is Mats and I'm from Sweden. My dad always had Volvos and I my first car memory is of his yellow 142, then in the 80's we have a green metallic 245 GL and that was followed by a 440 GL and 940. I learned to drive in the 440 and it was an ok car. My first own car was a an Audi...

Re: New user from Sweden.
Impressive! Did the length of the 5 and placement affect the weight balance? Was the chassis a "kit" piece or did you fabricate it from drawings? Nice work. I have a friend with an early 60s Lotus 7 with an old Ford. Thank you :) The engine length was ok, sure its about 30 kgs heavier tha...

Pretty fair fabrication skills, looks to be well-sorted Even the suspension mods seem well thought out

Re: Torque wrenches below 5 Nm and angle gauges
Nothing on a P80 is THAT finicky that you need to worry about that kind of resolution. Things don't need to be this complicated. Have a decent 1/2"-drive torque wrench that will get you to 250 lb-ft and a 3/8"-drive that will cover the smaller stuff. Anything smaller, use a proper-sized wr...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Over the weekend I manual swapped my 96R and installed a Quaife and an ECU with a good tune.
Good lord, that thing is scary now ...
I'm glad the AW50-42 gave up on me a year ago or I probably would have never swapped it.

Re: 96 R manual swap: the hard way?
Alright, since I opened the topic, I might as well close it. I am done, my 96 R now has a quaifed up M56H 4.0 and 270 hp. It is scary fast and torquey compared to before. If feels 50% more powerful than my 94 T5M. Since a buddy of mine who is a mechanic specializing on race car builds could be convi...
