Is that from a turbo engine? I have not had an 850 turbo yet so don't recognise the strange trumpet on the end of the tube. my EU spec 96 Turbo w/o EGR doesn't have that trumpet. Neither has my 94 Turbo nor my 95 NA.

That's flame trap housing on n/a engine. Actually...flame trap is locking in there. It's a part if pcv n/a system('96-'97 850 and '97 -'98 s,v70) and that "valve" on what you're refering to which goes across the engine....part of it goes to the nipple at left side of the intake manifold. T...

About flame trap plastic screen....remove it completely and throw it away.It's not needed and it was discontinued in s,v70 models. All it does is clogging up with gunk not allowing an engine to breathe and makes all additional problems. Cooling fan relay is on fan shroud....they rarely fail,but wire...

If you're buying a relay,make sure that it's Volvo relay,aftermarket ones will not last more than 6 months...a year max. The best way is to find original used one from junkyard...but before you replace it....check wiring and connections on it. If it runs with maf disconnected and won't run with it.....
