Re: 2007 XC90 3.2… cem not communicating with rem?
Remember that the alternator pulley/decoupler is a known issue (okay if fixed). I would first double-check the voltage you are getting. This is a simple step using almost any scanner and confirming known issue areas are not an issue should first be done. Have you also searched about the CEM (on pret...

Re: 2007 XC90 3.2… cem not communicating with rem?
I’m glad you were able to diagnose and fix the problem with the REM. The cam profile switching, I’ve never had to change that on my 3.2. I’ve changed solenoids, cleaned solenoids, and replaced seals on other Volvo engines and non-Volvo engines, but with proper oil maintenance, mine has never needed ...

Re: TPMS Sensors
If you can, read the TPMS sensors in VIDA while driving. I did this, posted in the link provided. However, if you have original TPMS sensors, it might be prudent to replace them based on the age. General guidelines are a 5-10yr life expectancy from the TPMS sensor batteries. Older sensors and rubber...

Re: Considering this 2013 XC90
I would also ask about oil consumption and if you have a warranty if you experience it. Volvo schedules the big maintenance for 150k miles, however, owners have found that is too late. Volvo/dealership also runs the oil change interval too long at 7,500 miles, when it should be closer to 5,000 miles...

Re: TPMS Sensors
Ironically, this was asked about in a thread not too long ago. A link to look up the frequencies is also in the earlier thread.

Re: TPMS Sensors
Without copying and pasting, but from personal experience, like I already said. In plain terms... :) It does that and it’s more of a how frequent and consistent the ID #s are over time. I was getting IDs from other cars when I was driving and looking at VIDA. As long as the dash light turns off, the...

Re: Yet another transmission question - slipping
In this situation, I would first ask how many miles are on the XC90, what fluid was used, and which engine? Was the fluid change a simple drain & fill, only changing maximum 4 quarts? Transmission fluid for the TF-80SC should be first changed at 60k-80k miles, then 20k-40k mile intervals after t...

Re: Best xc90 first gen
There are a lot of XC90s approaching 200k miles and many that are over. The very first high level question I would ask is what is your level of fixing and repairing vehicles. The single biggest issue plaguing 1st Gen XC90s is delayed maintenance, in any year and engine variant. The second question w...

Re: Ford Spark Plugs
I believe the earlier 3.2s used Bosch iridium and later 3.2s used Denso. The shortened 50k mile spark plug interval is also listed in the Volvo XC90 3.2 thread as well as info on using Denso Iridium alternatives for the later 3.2s. Other shortened service intervals based on XC90 3.2 owners' (parts f...
