Re: Front end noise
Thanks for the Vin#, but what I need is the 8 digit number to the lower right on the engine bay Vin# plate by the battery. Those 8 digits give the suspension and steering rack info: 2000 V70R Identification plate 006.JPG Neil. My bad, I misread your post. 20240525_212226.jpg 3WA6SWB4 looks to be wh...

Re: Exhaust leak? Mistimed? Lifter tick?
Could the clicking noise be coming from the fuel injectors? Some fuel injectors are noisy as suggested above. I'm not sure what car you are talking about here. Volvo change from hydraulic to solid lifters. Can't remember what year or if specific engines were affected by that. The solid lifters are ...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
Bought a reman steering rack from Detroit axle due to a leak from one of the external lines that are NLA, and they sent this new aftermarket one that they also sell. 20240608_150136.jpg They said they can't guarantee a replacement with an OEM rebuilt unit, it might be rebuilt from aftermarket cores ...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
Still have yet to see how it holds up in the long run, but no immediate problems with the Detroit axle rack. The rack that came out was a rebuilt SMI rack, and belched fluid from both ends when I took the boots off.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
That's what the guy at the machine shop must have done, I brought him a pack of 24 stem seals and 4 protector caps and got back 3 seals and 3 caps for a 20 valve engine. I wonder which ones taste better. I hope everyone in the Northern Hemisphere has their A/C in working order. A cool car on 78F day...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I decided to go ahead and drop the pan because I already had the o-rings, and curiosity got the best of me. 20240807_133949.jpg I think it might have been done in the past, as the o-rings were green. The o-rings were still pliable, but hardened and flattened. The oil pickup seal crumbled apart when ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
That is looking up at the back of the engine as if your head was on the passenger side and feet dangling out from under the drivers side. That's the flange from the turbo to the downpipe.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
There should be a gasket from what I can see on a parts drawing. However, it looks like it is NLA: https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/p/Volvo_1998_S70-23l-5-cylinder-Turbo/Gasket/42845467/1275549.html This is the muffler parts drawing for a 98 turbo engine: https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/a/...
