Re: Cruise Control Out on '93 940 Turbo wagon

On my '91 740 I had an intermittent starting problem caused by the park/neutral switch at the bottom of the shifter. It may be the same switch that's on your 940. For the time being I jumped the switch wiring. After that my cruise stopped working. Listing this as a possible issue. There is a danger ...

Re: Who likes the 960

I loved my 960 and S90! The white 6 cylinder engine is by far superior in my opinion to anything Volvo has made since. The final step in the evolution is the S80 T6 that I won't part with. Had Volvo kept the S90 version and added the T6 twin charged as a option I feel they would have had the perfec...

Re: Who likes the 960

Another question, how do you drive it if you own one. Never had one, but any inline six cylinder will be a better engine, than a I-4 or V-6..due to harmonics . If RPMs are reasonable, there is smooth torque and power available. Even Fiat Chrysler Automobiles apprears to be bringing out a new inline...

Re: new to me 1998 S90

Doing the timing belt is relatively easy considering doing other types of timing belts. But you'd certainly want to be very confident with your mechanical abilities. And don't cheap out on the parts you use. I use OE parts, you do need to know the manufacturer of the original parts. Like using the C...

Re: new to me 1998 S90

There's just not a lot of you tube stuff related to the 960. But it's pretty much the same as doing the timing belt on an 850 or V/S70. You'll find plenty on those cars. I'm pretty sure the timing belt replacement is exact on the 5 cylinder white block. With the 960 giving you a lot more room than t...

Re: New timing belt on my '92 960 will not clear tensioner roller

I've done quite a few timing belts on the 960. I'm on my 4th 960 now and have had my current one over 6 years. The tensioner is pinned and in place before sliding the belt on. Do look for the post that sticks out directly below the crank pulley. Cant see it looking straight down, you'll see it from ...

Re: I'm stuck - '97 960 Heater Core rear ducts removal

I feel for you doing this job. I did it to my 960 this past winter. Not a fun job. And I did use some of the aluminum duct tape to seal some of the areas. Some parts of it do not go back in as easily as it came out. I practiced first by going to a junkyard and tearing a junker apart. Don't want to t...

Re: Oil viscosity and the owners' manual

Last post didn't take. I found my 960 did not like 15-40 during these cold Kentucky winters. Car would start up rough and run that way until engine was fully warmed up. Changed over to Castrol 10-30 and starts up smooth below freezing. Don't know the last time I that low a weight of oil. It's gotta ...

Re: very slow ATF leak on 1998 S90

This would be worse case. Perhaps the front trans seal.
But I think if it were that it would drip straight down between engine and trans.
And there is the shift shaft seal.

Re: Oil Transmission Filter.

The 960 certainly has a transmission filter.
If I had a mechanic tell me that I'd find a new mechanic.
That one would never touch my car again.

But I do my own work. Filter Is inside the pan secured by 3 bolts. As far as the filter goes on this car it's very easy to replace.
