Programming keys via VIDA requires working subscription. So in a case of one time job the price will be almost the same as dealers one.
Plus there can be limitation for programming keys for end users. F.e. in US you need to have special locksmith licence.

Re: Learning's from trying to buy an XC90
I have wrenched on my Volvos for over 40 years. Newer ones like P2's (first gen S60, 2nd gen V70, 2nd gen XC70 and first gen XC90) I have not worked on so much. They are more complex but not so different to the older P80 models from 2000 and older I have worked on and currently have 2 of. Working on...

Re: Learning's from trying to buy an XC90
I bought mine off a private party for under 2K. Needed some work and tires for another 2K (and my labor). Seems to me like you'd be better off buying from a private party versus dealers and auctions. The dealers markup does not guarantee you wont have problems. Auctions you may not get to drive it e...

Re: 2011 XC90 (Canada) TPMS Question
C70-lindsay, I guess that story proves that safety features only work if you understand them. :-) Thanks guys for the comments. Can anyone with TPMS confirm that the yellow tire warning light comes on in position II before start-up? Can any Canadian owner confirm that the yellow warning symbol in po...

Re: 2005 XC90 T6 Executive Project Car.

Ignition lock cylinder is pretty worn out. When shutting the car off, you got to play it to get it to go to POS 0. I may ne...

Re: Replace ball joints with control arms? ('04 XC)
I don't know if Volvo has changed the bushing formulation, but the control arms in my 2005 XC90 2.5T with 120K are still original.
They (control arms as a whole) need to be replaced soon, but the bushings in Volvo Genuine control arm have been very good.

Re: Starting replacement of control arms and ball joints on 2005 XC90 2.5t this weekend
I did remove the ball joint once the wheel hub was on the floor. Just punch between the ball joint and the hub with a cold chisel, alternating near where the bolts sit - better not punch in the center because it may chip the hub metal. Clean nicely the hole and rub some grease before tapping the new...

Re: XC90 pulls when braking... not the same story repeated
@ggleavitt - veer and no recovery when brakes are applied. It will continue to track right as long as brakes are applied, some recovery when brakes let off but takes a steering adjustment to fully correct.
