Re: 98 V70 NA base - affordable brake pads
I can locally get Textar pads on clearance and Bosch for $60 + Tax. Neil. Textar is what was on the front of my S70 when I had a caliper lock up. The only reason I didn't re-use them is because I had a clip break off when trying to get the clip to fit into the piston.... made too small for some rea...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Changed the oil after finally getting it started. I hadn't driven the S70 for a day or two, and wanted to heat up the oil before draining. I walk out to the car, and lights come on, but the engine won't turn over. My ignition switch is a little flaky, so I assume it kept the accessories on and drain...

Re: Master Fastener list for White Blocks?
yes, a M7x30 would have a thread that is 30 mm long and had a nominal diameter of 7mm Quick OT question: how are american bolts measured? I never really understood how that works. Diameter and length, and the thread is TPI (threads per inch). So a 1/4-20 bolt is .25 inches in diameter, with 20 thre...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I thought you could mix brands of oil. I know you can’t mix shell and Mobil gasoline …. 🐠 🎣 I've been using Shell Rotella T6 5w40. I do have some Shell Rotella Gas Truck, but it's only 5w30. It would probably be ok when cold but I'm afraid it would separate and float on the top of the 5w40 when hot...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Today, I installed new TYC headlights on my S70. I still need to work on the aim. Weirdly, as I was trying to aim them, the bubble in the level is in the center on one, and way all the way to the end on the other, but the lights beams are hitting the wall at the same place. I couldn't adjust the lef...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Careful touching the reflectors with anything. Unless someone has managed it successfully with something I don't know about it will likely damage the old silvering. I have tried and only made it worse. If you find a good option I'd love to know. Yeah, usually just about anything will wipe the refle...

Re: Looking at a Carfax for an XC70
I just reread the Carfax, it looks like the car has been over maintained by the Volvo dealer which is not uncommon, particularly with a gullible unknowing owner. The assumption would be that there shouldn't be much that hasn't been addressed. I've never bought an auction car due to fear of the unkn...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
A new H6 Interstate battery (why do they spec the smaller H5 with lower CCA and a higher price?) You got me curious since the battery in my 850 is an H5 and the battery in my S70 is something that doesn't quite fit if I want to use the hold down. I haven't replaced it, since it was installed shortl...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Pulled over to photograph some Canadian visitors and either hit something or. ??? Right rear tire blew out , sidewall failure. Tread about 3/32, but tires 13 years old. Time for new summers next year 13 years is up there for a tire. The Pirellis on my S70 have 2016 date codes and are starting to sh...
