Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
My key fob that I had with my '98 barely worked, but when it did, it would flash upon locking only. Not unlocking. I'm not sure if the 850 acts the same, as it uses a different fob and possibly the whole system.

Re: Needed : P80 heater hoses in bad condition , free if needed
I would have believed you could bypass the heater core if the pipes needed replaced by running a piece of pipe from where the pipe starts to the heater core on the back of the block and the where the return pipe ends back at the engine. Just no heating will be available.

Re: Needed : P80 heater hoses in bad condition , free if needed
The bayonet ends of the two heater hoses both nicely fit 5/8 heater hose. I’m not sure about the other ends. I have jumped the core on a leaking car at the bayonet ends. I got 5/8 on both fittings but have to still make sure they seal. Volvo P80 cores are full flow at all times. I’ll just open the c...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Over the years I've done a few TB's on 240's and 740's, also one on a Porsche 951 and a Porsche 928s. The job doesn't intimidate me at all... but I'm almost 60 now. Rolling around on the ground in Minnesota-- it was sunny and 32 -- was just more stress than my body liked. And it was one of those day...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
In the past I have been off by a tooth or two on a timing belt change and I used an old plastic credit card fed in between the belt and a cam gear. Then just rotate the cam gear to the desired position and it's perfect.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
The timing belt is installed, and I think it's right. Car idles and revs fine, I let it sit and idle up to full temp while I cleaned up the 35,000 tools and pieces of debris that were scattered everywhere. I had let the thing sit overnight with a fresh coolant fill, and no signs of leaks before I co...

Documenting the SAS bung as 18mm x 1.5 thread pitch standard ( not pipe thread)
Also found my loose seat heaters, easily swapped from foam to foam seat.

Re: Bought some oil today!
Mobil 1 0W-40 was problematic in my 96R as well. I settled with 10W-40 * After figuring out it was the Mobil causing the head gasket leaks I stopped for years then the 0W-40. No Mobil for MoVolvo ever again. * I'm not understanding how an oil would cause a blown headgasket. * The detergent package ...
