Re: New or restore?
If you need a reliable transportation and this is not a spare car, then run away and buy new regular gas corolla(24k or so). We are addicts here with Stockholm syndrome, so be better than us. Only because of FCP euro most of us still justifies having those cars, but honestly we are spending on them ...

Re: Intermittent rough cold start 04 XC70
if you open the coolant bottle when the enginer is stone cold it should not be under pressure, if it releases pressure when opened cold thats a sign for leaky head gasket, not definitive but a red flag.

Re: New or restore?
I love my 2005 and keep driving it, but all 4 Volvos I've had were money pit basically. My family grew, free time annihilated, I had to make family fleet decisions... The decisions don't brake. Nothing seem to happen to them. Boring as boredom can be, that's why I keep driving my 2005

Re: 04 xc70. intake leak CBV
Just an update to this. After replacing my cbv with the ipd kit it cleared my hesitant start. Fires right to life now! If you've got an intake leak code give that a check. I used a "smoke machine" by unplugging the vacuum line attached to the intake and blowing vape smoke through it with m...

Re: 04 XC70 crank no start conditon
Posting my foolishness for those that may come looking in the future. It just needed some gas. 🥲 So, the fuel pump gets power for about 1 second at key on, and then gets power again during cranking. I confirmed I had power during a crank cycle. Added 3 gallons of gas. And it fired up. I guess my fue...

Re: Unusual starting behaviour 2007 XC70
Changed the pump today with a Bosch unit from RockAuto. Low priming pressure is gone now so starts are much better! Pretty easy job for the shade tree mechanic, the biggest part of the job is removing the back seat and containing the fuel from dripping on the carpet, didn't get very lucky with that ...

Re: SRSmessage '02 xc70
I'm just about there. Today I pulled off the pillar next to the windshield, the connections are right there. Just need to get the right color codes. I'll let you how it turns out.

Re: Problem 2006 XC70 High Speed CAN faulty
Hello All, I have solved the issue.I am not expert in CAN networks. Here is the logic I used to diagnose the issue before throwing another unnecessary replacement module: A missing resistance on one end meant to me that either one of the essential modules is fired or there is a brake in the network ...

Re: Low fuel pressure 2006 XC70
Sensor values jumping all over the place can be a bad reference voltage. I've battled with hard starts and occasional system cutouts while starter is cranking. Turned out to be a heavily corroded positive connection on the fuses box, the one that connects battery, starter, alternator and all the ele...
