Re: 2007 XC70 timing belt change. Do-able at home?
If you don’t loosen or separate the sprockets from the cams then there is no need to employ a any cam locking tools. Here is a good video on the procedure. One thing I like to do differently is to remove the plastic shield from under the crank sprocket rather than removing the damper pulley. https:/...

Re: 2007 XC70 timing belt change. Do-able at home?
I've never done a Tbelt myself ... but why would anyone ever remove the crank pulley? Isn't that an equally painstaking, and unnecessary step? You need to remove plastic guard otherwise, and you will miss the ability to mark your old belt/sprocket, which can easily result in a skipped tooth or two....

Re: 2007 XC70 timing belt change. Do-able at home?
I just found out from the previous owner that the timing belt was last changed in 2013 at 110,000. It now has 200,000 miles. Is this a job I could do at home on a weekend, or a week, taking my time? I've done lots of mechanical work on my own cars over the years but no timing belts. I have a pretty...

Re: 2007 XC70 timing belt change. Do-able at home?
Ay- I did the belt, water pump ect on my 03 XC70 a couple of summers ago. It went fine for me. I did build my own cam lock thing, 4 bolts that indexed to gear notches. I marked the old belt with 2 dots of paint and transferred those dots to the new belt. It went well and the car started with no CEL....

Re: New (to me) 07 XC70. Under passenger seat wiring connectors: under or on top of the mat..?
acorns and leaves get in the drains and the water ends up in the footwells and underneath seats.
you may need to run something like weedeater trimmer string down the drain, compressed air cleared mine.
water should drain down the A pillar, beneath the door to the ground.

Re: Volvo dealer parts vs reputable online suppliers: is there a price difference?
Good news and bad news: yes, there is a price difference. Bad news: there are all kinds of price differences. Selecting a part number more or less at random -- Volvo 982869 -- here are the results: $19.09 -- FCP -- https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-strut-mount-flange-screw-m14-982869 $21.32 -- ...

Re: Volvo dealer parts vs reputable online suppliers: is there a price difference?
But if it's a big job with many parts, you might go crazy just to save say $50, and find it's easier to order at one place. Each of us is different however, and we all have different tolerances for spending time shopping around and having several packages from several sources to arrive.

Re: Glueing Volvo plastics (broken bumper clips for ex)...
What glue do you prefer and have had success with to bond polypropylene, which is the type of plastic used for bumpers? I've found a few brand names such as glues made by LocTite, 3M,JB Weld and Permatex. I'll be heading out later to see what I can find but would appreciate some recommendations... ...

Polypropolyene requires a primer before the glue. I have used Loctite 681925 with some success.
