21/21.5mm Front Sway Bars available again (9173983 9173471)
Hello everyone, my V70 I had deteriorated sway bar bushings and since you're supposed to change the whole sway bar in that case, this was an issue, as the sway bar is NLA from Volvo and there are no third party suppliers. Therefore I worked with Skandix to have new ones made by a reputable suspensio...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
I live close to Hamburg, Germany and have never heard of "Hamburg-Technic" before. They seem to be mostly/only sold in the US, so most likely they are not from Germany and it's just marketing :/

Re: Dimensions of Cam Seal Drift Tools (9995718 9995719)
Many moons later I finally had enough motivation to dig out the valve cover of the scrap B5254FS I have laying around aaaaaaaaaand the cam shafts are not the same as the scrap cam shafts of the B5244T3 which are also laying around (but those probably have the same dimensions as the B5244S2 I have in...

Re: Dimensions of Cam Seal Drift Tools (9995718 9995719)
Getting the VVT unit off the camshaft was not as easy as I expected, even my big 1000Nm Makita impact had to work a bit (even though probably a good bit of torque went into the non-impact torx bit). But now it's off and I designed the last tool: Screenshot 2025-05-09 012612.png However in this case,...

Re: Dimensions of Cam Seal Drift Tools (9995718 9995719)
This is very clever. You could make these and sell to the rest of us. If anyone needs them I can print one for sure, but I don't want to start a webshop or anything. Question - is the thin inner extended rim of the tool pushing the rubber part of the seal out of the way in order to push the seal in...

Re: Long term results for 2001 V70 auto transmission drain and fill
We did the first drain and refill on Friday on a transmission that has ~300k on it and had fluid changes before, but the ATF was quite dark already and it didn't always shift nicely. No codes or other issues though. The old ATF: Bild_2025-05-12_171751487.png We drained about 3.9L of ATF and filled i...

Re: Long term results for 2001 V70 auto transmission drain and fill
The car drove abour ~1600km now after the first drain and refill and we did the second round. After the second drain, the fluid was still rather dark: Bild_2025-06-01_220648181.png Bild_2025-06-01_220703688.png Bild_2025-06-01_220733658.png The gearbox ended up to be overfilled because I added 4L wh...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
After 2.5 years or 80,000km my rear brakes were due. I think I got my money's worth out of the brake pads   Usually I don't run them THAT far down but I simply forgot that I wanted to replace them when I put the winter wheels on, so it was a bit of a surprise in the spring(ish) B...

Re: P80 P2 Subframe Bushing installation with pictures 3507923
Perhaps you can find a volunteer from the US to print you the tool. Shipping it from Germany is quite expensive unfortunately.
But here you have the relevant dimensions:

Re: Smell of gasoline - 06 XC70
There is also a short piece of rubber hose that connects the tank ventilation hard plastic line coming from the engine compartment to the hard plastic line going to the charcoal canister. On my 2002 S60 that rubber hose completely deteriorated and broke, leading to a gasoline smell (occasionally) an...
