Re: DIY: 1998 V70 Axle CV Rubber Boots Tips/Tricks
Update: 1998 S70 GLT with 167K miles . Dealer replaced the R axle @ 130K miles using NAPA part. The metal parts (CV joints, shaft etc.) are fine but the outer rubber boot split after some 37K miles. If you read the above posts on VW-Audi boots, they fit perfectly on the INNER side. In summary: INNER...

The definitive P80 Power Steering Pump Pulley Tool: Lisle 39000
Don't know what it was about this puller that inspired confidence. But after a little back and forth (and installing this thing wrong a few times) I was able to pull the pulley off. This was off a 95 850 so the pulley was wedged on there for over twenty years!! It was $50 though... I will have to re...

Re: Delayed start when cold.
Ultimately, the only voltage that matters is the voltage that the starter sees, and you have to check it under load because starter draws significant current ... You are not measuring the voltages at the critical place. Measure voltage between starter large terminal and engine ground (ie. starter ho...

Re: Delayed start when cold.
Delayed cranking is often the result of a bad pigtail between the solenoid and starter

Re: Delayed start when cold.
OK, so I bought a new OEM (not Volvo brand) positive cable from FCPEuro and it arrived today. The battery connector looks like a P.O.S. ... This has been posted about a few times before, starting several years ago. It is little consolation but just know that others have been fooled by this parts pu...

Re: Delayed start when cold.
I checked and the Bosch rebuilt starter states that it was rebuilt in the USA. The rebuilt alternator that I bought was rebuilt in Germany. Not sure if I'll use either of them, but the alternator was only $60 after core return and since I have a leaking PS pump, my original 285K mile alternator is ...

Re: PCV replacement questions.
There is a lower port in particular (the lowest towards the bottom of the engine), needs a hose that fits tight in there (may wrap the end of it with some duck tape), then blow at the other end and listed for oil bubbling inside the oil pan. Should be quite easily to blow through it. Very wise decis...

Re: Delayed start when cold.
Did you ever test the ignition Switch? You can test it by using the bypass starter function on your car, there is a reg green wire bare conn3ctor either in you fuse box or on the shock tower that’s can bypass the ignition switch for cranking signal

Re: Press for replacing upper torque mount
I simply bought a new one from rockauto. Much easier than going through all that pressing rigamarole. They aren't expensive. The ones that just bolt in are for the later models 99+. For the 98 you can buy this part and replace the whole thing for $120: https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/8139/Upper-To...
