Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
PHAD- Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostic Great case studies. Amazing explanations of the problems. SMA-South Main Auto. Nothing short of amazing too. More mechanical repairs. The only complain about evil Eric O. -he does not work on volvo or other euro cars. Always great service for my Prius and Ford. Neve...

Re: Unusual noise at cold start 1994 940 wagon NA
Agree with Mathew1 on bearing. My guess is water pump vs timing belt tensioner pulley. 2 possible ways i would adress this issue depending on my day and preference. 1: Agressive approach: remove all 3 drive belts while engine is cold and manually turn each component to feel if any bearing/component ...

Re: 2002 Volvo V70 XC
Weird issue. Hard to condemn anything right away given "starts well", " runs and drive well with plenty of power"... Honorable Volvolugnut might be right with his idea of water pump being behind this issue. 2 possible ways how it might be acting up. 1- pump is worn and requires h...

Re: Fuel issues gas engine 2007 xc70
Agree with scot850. I would like to add slightly more involved aproach. If you are concerned that you have large amount of water in your tank-better get rid of it fast before your fuel system will suffer more damage. I would open the gas tank and inspect if you have water on a bottom. Get yourself 2...

Re: Serpentine Belt Stopped Spinning - Bad Read Overrun Pulley?
If the left side is spinning-great news. I would take anything, but failed READ unit. I would start with removing intake, removing alternator. Check if the bolt holding the drive gear for alternator is fully tightened. Possibly vibration from failing drive pulley caused it to loose? On the right sid...

Re: Tcm codes and coolant leak 99 s80 2.9L
Sorry for your problems. I think the best approach would be to ask abscate member or other members who may reside in long island to recommend a trustworthy shop. If you dont have experience working on cars, it might get costly(price of tools, space to work on car, mistakes that come with learning ne...

Re: Charging issue
Before buying any parts- check your voltage at alternator. 1 wire to the alternator case, another to positive cable at the alternator(may use alligator jaw connector). You need to first make sure you dont have bad ground or positive cable

Re: 1995 Volvo 960 sedan 233xxxkm No Crank/No start
Quick and dirty way- take a piece of metal and try to shock the started a little. Idea is to vibrate it a little so it can get "unstuck" and turn the engine over. Some people use light taps with the hammer, long breaker bar... If after that "love tap" still nothing. Best option i...
