This thing is gonna need a set of wheels/tires, a front bumper, and at least 3k in maintenance before it’s worth anything on BaT or C&B

Re: 1998 v70 is it possible to remove rear axles permanently ?
Rear differential isn’t structural and can be removed no problem as far as I remember, though I think you’ll have to drop the subframe to do so.
You won’t know if they’re bad until you drive the car. If they don’t pump up to the proper ride height they’re no bueno

Re: Request for advice, timing belt quandry
That belt is junk, get it out of there and use Genuine Volvo or Continental. All pulleys should be INA or Genuine. Water pump should be Aisin or Genuine. Nothing else is worth risking your engine for a couple bucks savings. The cheap aftermarket belts love to walk like that. When you re-do it, check...

Re: PCV service needed? 99 S70 NA
Service probably needed - if it’s not sucking the glove in, you probably have a leak in the system somewhere. If it wasn’t done using Genuine parts last time, it’s highly likely one or more hoses have disintegrated or cracked and need to be replaced. Before you start ripping the manifold off to do P...

Re: Request for advice, timing belt quandry
The Aisin pumps are great, I highly doubt it’s the issue. Same with the idler or tensioner if they’re INA, which is what the Genuine parts are. New belt and you should be good.

Re: 1998 v70 is it possible to remove rear axles permanently ?
850 will work fine if you have the early evap system on your ‘98.
However if this thing is as tired as you say it is, maybe it’s worth picking up that P2. It’s a much better car overall if you just need a good daily, and a more fun transmission to boot

Re: Rear LSD gear oil - 1997 Volvo 850 AWD
So for the untrained in rear diff locking units, what is the difference between the Eaton G80 and the limited slip differential in the way they operate? For me, a great learning opportunity! Neil The G80 and similar auto-locker style diffs use weights in the center section that fling out when wheel...

Re: Thoughts on Injector Cleaner?
If you’re worried about getting quality gas, only go to Top Tier stations. They have more stringent standards on quality and additives and generally aren’t any more money than any other station. The difference is notable in both my ‘98s, which are tuned to within an inch of their lives. Top tier 93 ...
