Installed the 42€ alternator today. Seems rather clean (donor car had 180 000km according to the listing), no more whine and charging at 13.95V.
Caliper rebuild kit and new handbrake cables are waiting for me at the post office, but that'll wait until i'm done building an exhaust for the subaru

I built up the patches from the back along with the nails to give it some strength

Here is the end result from the front. Not perfect but over all I am happy with the result.

That's exactly what it is! The old fuse is just pressed in and held by the friction and compression forces from the copper strips.
