Re: Put in a used heater core...

Did it get super hot before (foggy window and all?) If so, my bet is on trapped air or like abscate said the foam insulation around it. Let the system warm up to full temp with the coolant reservoir cap off, rev a little to try and get things moving around a bit to purge system of air. Carefully see...

300,000 Thank Yous

Hello MVS, No need for help today. Just wanted to publicly pass along to Matt and everyone here that makes this site what it is: thank you. I was given this car by my dad who got it new in 2000. It had a fair amount of issues when I got it (parents were tired of the all the random problems) and as a...

Re: 300,000 Thank Yous

It would be so cool to completely renovate it. If I had unlimited money, how cool would it be to drop it off at a place that rebuilds it from the inside out. New electronics, new motor, maybe a 5-speed, new interior/exterior. The works. Wow that would be cool. I often think about this! Honestly, if...

Re: Penzoil Synthetic from natural gas

ecbskyes, Thanks. Popular opinion touts Mobile 1. It seems to go dark more quickly than this Penzoil with the same viscosities. I use color as the indicator for an oil change. Like many 850's, odometer gear has broken again. I have the battery disconnected too often to use the trip computer. Theref...

Re: IPD/FCPEuro, Evaporators & Abandoned Volvos

Personal opinion only, but I'm a fan of FCPEuro. Whenever I need parts, I tend to crosscheck 4 sites: FCP, IPD, eEuroparts, and Volvo Parts Webstore. I check for price usually, but if it's negligible I go for FCP due to their customer service and parts guarantees. I will say I've had a couple issues...

Re: Miles to empty- how does it work?

From the manual: "Shows the approximate distance which can be driven on the fuel remaining in the tank, calculated on the basis of the average fuel consumption during the last 12 miles (20 km) driven and the amount of fuel remaining in the tank at the time of the reading." As far as why it...

What?

Just top up what you have until it reads correctly, with whatever you need. Sounds like a quart or so.

Re: 2004 XC Volvo trip I40 support VT to NM FEB 2021

I live about an hour and a half from OKC and can try and help if my schedule allows and the need arises. I will say my knowledge is more in the P80 category, but I'm fairly handy and good at figuring stuff out quickly.

Re: The Resurrection of (10/1998 to 01/2021 )Elizabeth 1999 V70T5M56 Cylinder Head Job

I was impressed. And they never dumped the fuel, which is interesting. Over a city, not high enough, no time? Or no need, as it was flying just fine on one engine as designed? But heavy, right, with a non-stop to Hawaii? Speaking as a layman here - The way that engine was shaking in the mounts, may...
