Re: Let's play Name That Car

I love (love) the look. I think 1970s design is outstanding.

I'd drive that every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

Night photos shot under sodium-vapor lamp (or whatever)... Here it is corrected for cast, assuming the upholstery/headrests are "neutral grey", which means a mid grey without any color. Sampling a neutral grey from the tailpipe gives similar result. So yea, an orange 940  Image (1)....

Re: Matthew's '98 V70

The heat thing is probably a damper motor issue, based on the test drive today and input from test drivers Noah and Dan, who discovered that the center vents were cold but outer vents were warm.

Sold for $1100.

Re: After -10, you just die faster

I've always adhered to the rule of turning on the heater early in the drive cycle to allow it to come up to temperature gradually, as the engine comes up to temperature. That way there's no temp differential shock to the cold glass.

If my vents are on footwell, it doesn't matter.

Anything, anything at all that goes wrong on cars. I don't advocate to my friends anything now. I used to (tech, cars) but I felt preachy after a while.

If they solicit my thoughts, I will but with plenty of disclaimers.

Re: My time in England (contains car talk... barely)

This reminds me: I asked my dad a few weeks ago about the Simca. The second car (first being a brown Toyota Celica) we owned in Belgium was a Simca -- almost certainly a 1301 -- which my dad had shipped from England, where it was my family's only car. I had always thought he bought that in Belgium a...
