Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Car for every cat. I hope Olivia inspires young one to start logging some hours on his road to the road. Compared to me at his age, he's... uninspired. Halfway between a teen who chooses not to drive, and where I was at his age. His friend does have full driving privileges and they all (5 or ...

Re: EX60 Revealed: Volvo's New 400-Mile Range EV

400 is a lot of miles range for an EV, yes. And 670hp is downright monstrous. In the wrong hands this is a 5k pound 670hp Missile of Doom™. Good thing Volvo customers are about as right hands as they come

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

This reminds me of Volvo's radio codes and the thousands of hours of aggregate owners' wasted time in the last 30 years trying to find codes. Who is going to steal a double-din factory radio?! No matter how good they sound, they're DOUBLE DIN.

Taking my Nevada example, we could power Las Vegas and all of California from Nevada (or even from desert California of which there is plenty), and not have to run thousands of miles of transmission to say NYC. Washington state, and I suspect Oregon also, run mostly on hydroelectric, so no worries t...

Re: I'm waiting for this... (solar power system)

To be fair, we should count all solar/wind/hydro/natgas/coal/oil production and maintenance deaths. I think that number is going to be 3 or 4 digits, since 1950. Even if we adjust for nuclear's % of energy it's still a large disparity. Now imagine what the safety disparity would be with 2020s reacto...

Re: I'm waiting for this... (solar power system)

When and where did this ad run? Font looks like 1970's. volvolugnut I'm willing to bet it'd have been 1979 or earlier :D Bill Gates is trying to get built a small new-tech nuke generator, in a down & out Wyoming coal mining town. The path of least resistance through the money hurdles, lawyers, ...

Re: I'm waiting for this... (solar power system)

Thanks for bringing this full circle back to cars, VLN. I guess my biggest thought when you mentioned quality of the 20th Century is my grandfather. He was a jet airliner mechanic (electric systems, Frontier Airlines and Continental before that) until around 1980 when he retired. Born 1912, no colle...
