Re: 2004 S60 Electrical problem between ECM, BCM, CEM, & TCM

I can hardly believe I'm writing this, but I'm ready to consider my intermittent electrical issue with my 2004 S60 solved. If you've read through the thread, you'll see that I replaced the TCM, CEM, and BCM but continued to experience High Speed CAN crashes in high heat and humidity (above 50% humid...

95 850 M56 manual transmission Swap Write Up

This is a write up for replacing the AW50-40 slush box in an 850 with an M56 manual transmission. Most of the necessary information is already out there on various Volvo forums but another addition won't hurt. I won't go into detail on every step but I'll try to add useful tips for what I found to b...

Re: VIDA -- "Click on the VCT 2000 symbol"?

Old Post I know - but I initially had the same issue when using the program. On the page in the VIDA software, there is an image next to the text. Its hard to read. Roll your mouse pointer over it and it will change to a hand. Click it. I found a screen shot on another site. The circled image in the...

This is essentially the same as putting a jumper. After replacing the capacitors 100µF, 22µF I pugged it back in the car. To my surprise it kep...

Re: Fuel Relay #103 -- Is it really necessary?

Most of the timing on the circuit is related to pre-start priming. It also cuts off the fuel pump if the engine dies which is a desirable trait after you run into a tree and break a fuel line. :D I guess the upshot is that you really want to avoid running into a tree while you have the jumper wire i...

Re: Fuel Relay #103 -- Is it really necessary?

Motorola didn't design this chip for Volvo, it was designed for multiple applications outside automotive. You are reading way too much into this, the design of parts like these is driven by supply chain considerations much more than EE. Over-riding a fuel pump relay long term with either mechanical ...

Re: S80 2001 How To Replace Your Console Armrest Cover

I went to Joanne fabrics and found some vinyl material that was a close match. I had my mother in law do the double stitch thing like the original (but with contrasting dark brown thread.) I then contact cemented a strip of vinyl in the center of the arm rest between the 2 existing stitch rows to bu...
