Just adding data here:
My 1999 and 2002 both had plastic (FRP?) tanks and external gas filters.
My 2007 has a steel tank and no external filter.
All 3 were non-turbos.
The internal filters seem 9" long in the drawings I've seen and I bet they have a l-o-n-g service life.

Re: Swedish Car Parts strut quality
The devil is in the details, here is a(nother) heads-up for anyone reading along who is confused about terms like "Volvo's XC90 spring seat" or "Volvo XC90 spec:" The Volvo-branded XC90 spring seat and the Volvo-branded 850 spring seat are the exact same thing, same part number s...

Re: Kallekula's $350 S40
It was the fuel pressure sensor that had given up.
I'm not sure if I will keep the car or sell it, we'll see.
Need a new project now but I'm not sure what the wife thinks about that

Re: What oil sample analysis service do you use?
Matthew you have had the good sense to take the factory oil out???? You know there is lots of metal particles that appear in the first 200 miles and more appear over the next couple hundred miles after that. Every new car I have bought I have had the oil changed at 200 miles and every engine without...

Re: What oil sample analysis service do you use?
+1 on Blackstone Labs Their analysis will set your mind at ease, or give you some meaningful info if there is an issue. They also track your samples over time to give you an idea of how repairs are helping, or even help you anticipate failing components. They'll even tell you the level of shear, som...

Re: What oil sample analysis service do you use?
+1 Blackstone labs is awesome. That oil doesn't look that bad for a turbo-charged vehicle and may be fine, Blackstone will tell you with a scientific determination - is this driven highway miles or mostly local? If local it wouldn't surprise me if the car is only used for short trips. Any oil consum...

Re: Testing cabin temp sensor fan motor
Thanks abscate. At 23C (approx. 73F) All of the cabin temp sensors read between 10.4 and 10.5K ohms, so allowing for inaccuracies of my room thermometers and the cheap meter I'd say they all tested out fine. Not bad, all 9 are in spec and have working fans with similar resistances. So we now have a ...
