In P80 platform there are variations across markets amd even regions. I believe US gets the DRl switch on front plate,( actually technically, rear of switch, visible to driver) Canada gets it hidden switch under dash
P2 is all VIDA driven

Dropping 850 manual trans in '98 V70. What CV shafts do I need?
Hi, I am converting a 1998 V70 (base) to fell electric, using a forklift motor. I am mating the motor to a manual transaxle from an 850. The V70 has an automatic, which will be pulled out with the IC engine. Question: what CV shafts will work in this application? Re-use the ones that are there? get ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Does turning off DRL's involve some computer voodoo or a simpler way? I think VIDA is required unfortunately. A good scanner is required. I am able to do it with a foxwell scanner with the Volvo liscense. Does not require a software load or purchase, it’s just a configuration switch. A dealership s...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Couple of washers on each side of those holes , lots of antiseize to prevent rust. The center bearing is really low stress. It feels very little torque Ok good, I was thinking that center bearing would be seeing more stress. On the topic of stuck axles in hubs, the harbor freight 10 ton hydraulic p...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
In the early days of the P80 -98, with the large 36mm locking nut on the shaft, Volvo used a glue to stop the axle splines moving in the hub. It makes a devil of it to remove the shaft from the hub. Once you have it out, if you plan to re-use the shaft, us a pick to run up and down the splines to br...

Re: Capital Auto Auction buying advice DC NH PA MD ( How to buy a $1000 Volvo )
The first two are dealer consignments, not likely to make reserve, and the third, the V8 car, has specific State exclusions clearly stated in the 'Further Information' section. If it hammers for the current $1600 bid, that's $1940 at the gate in Temple Hills, MD. As mentioned several hundreds of tim...

Re: 2006 xc90 2.5 P0111 non OE MAF fail, Volvo MAF only.
Abscate you nailed it. New Valeo MAF still threw code and cause fan to run. Ebay salvage yard MAF (Bosch OEM) fixed my issue no more code and fans do not run.

Re: awful mileage at 149K
You can click on the codes in VIDA to check when the code occurred and how often. If the VVT is throwing off, it should store a code because of the cam sensors. Especially at your mileage, I would always first ask what is your maintenance history. Also, what parts & brands you used? These are im...

Re: awful mileage at 149K
Appreciate the detailed reply. I'm pasting my maintenance history (parts and mileage changed) since I've owned the car, beginning at 119,000m, below. I've done all required maintenance and nearly all proactive fixes to mitigate potential issues. It is recently that the fuel MPG has tanked, so I feel...
